Sabi ni Bob Ong

“Mangarap ka at abutin mo to. Wag mong sisihin ang sira mong pamilya, palpak mong syota, pilay mong tuta o mga lumilipad na ipis... Kung may pagkukulang sa iyo ang magulang mo, pwede kang manisi at magrebelde. Tumigil ka sa pag-aaral, mag-drugs, magpakulay ng buhok sa kilikili..Sa bandang huli, ikaw din ang biktima.. Rebelde na walang napatunayan at bait sa sarili."

Maraming salamat, Eden.

Moonhut Bungalow, Maenam Beach

Before I pick a particular hostel or resort, I search the web and pore through every review I can find. Moonhut has its fair share of positives and negatives, but I find that its pluses outweights its minuses. And that's why I decided to try my luck with Moonhut Bungalow in Maename Beach in Ko Samui.

I must admit, my first impression on Moonhut wasn't good: the road was unpaved, and there's a number of big potholes all around. The restaurant was nothing out of the ordinary, the beach is blah (then again, after Boracay, everything is blah), and landscaping is non-existent.

When I got to my standard bungalow, however, I was pleased. First off, the "hut" wasn't made of natural materials. I love nature and all, but when it comes to lodgings, I prefer concrete, wood and steel. It's made to look like a hut and also stand on stilts.

Bangkok Buns & T.T's

Bangkok Buns & T.T's

I swear, I didn't buy this for the box.

What's great about Hostel Thailand, aside from its proximity to the BTS Skytrain station, is that it's near Silom, Bankok's central business district. Because of this, there's plenty of small restaurants and shops catering to the employees working in the surrounding buildings.

One of them was this pastry shop I always pass by on the way to and from the hostel. The buns were flaky and has different kinds of fillings. It was delicious, and they have clippings of magazine and newspaper articles posted, to prove it.

Now, the question is... what are T.T's? *innocent look*

Is this finally the end?

We've been together for more than two years. It was awkward at first, but as the days pass, we became more comfortable and at ease with each other. As the months wear on, we discover how we can make the most out of this relationship.

I learned to manipulate you, learned which buttons to push. You in turn gave me everything to the best of your abilities.

Our union came upon some turbulence last year. I was starting to neglect you, and you in turn started deteriorating, until you finally had enough. It was the toughest three months - the three months we weren't together. I was so happy when you finally came back, and I swore to myself I'd love you more than I ever did before.

Thailand-Singapore Itinerary

I know I've been delinquent in updating this blog. I've been quite busy with life offline and on, that I don't really have much time to come up with something that makes sense.

Anyway, as a filler, instead of my usual photo posts, I'm sharing my itinerary for my Thailand & Singapore trip last May.

Read the complete itinerary at justwandering.org.

Why am I afraid?

While travelling vicariously through the travel journal I'm transcribing, I realize that I've become afraid again. Gone was the girl who wanted to experience everything, and she was replaced with someone who just want to experience something.

I still want to travel. I want to discover new places. But I'm not willing to get off too much from my comfort zone.

What's happening to me?

Ang Pambansang T-shirt

The National T-Shirt

Now these are tourist shirts I wouldn't mind wearing.

Out with the tacky "My xxx went to xxx and all I got was this lousy shirt" shirts!

51 Ways to Cut Vacation Costs

Here's a great article for all of us budget travelers (or independent travelers; whatever floats your boat): 51 Ways to Cut Vacation Costs from National Geographic Traveler.

I find myself agreeing with most of the list, but this one comes as a surprise:

2. Trash your "cookies," small files (stored in your Internet browser) that record the websites you surf—and the transactions you make. Say you go online and purchase a $200 plane ticket from Chicago to Omaha. The next time you visit that site, you could be quoted a higher rate than what's actually available because of your spending history. Avoid this problem by deleting these files each time you log on; detailed instructions can be found under the "Help" option in your browser menu.

Well I'll be darned.

It's a box of Baygon!

This post is way overdue and basically unecessary since I've posted pictures in Flickr last week.

Aaaaaaaanyway, as a formality, here's what was underneath that wrapping:

A box of Baygon!
It's a box of Baygon!

I think I'll stop buying Pinkies for now. Haha, that was such a quick obsession. It's not that I don't like them anymore, but it distracted me from other things I should be spending my money on, like saving up for a new camera, future trips and more clothes.

Though I *really* must get a hold of a Standing Yukata Pinky. They're wearing thongs! Well, a geta, but it's close enough to a flip-flop!
